About the Journal

Journal of Humanity and Social Studies (JHSS) is a peer-reviewed open-access scholarly journal published quaterly by CIPHER Foundation. The journal provides an academic platform for researchers, lecturers, policymakers, practitioners, and civil society actors to disseminate high-quality research on humanity, social studies, law, governance, public policy, human dignity, social justice, welfare, institutional change, and inclusive development.

JHSS is established to strengthen interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of humanity, society, law, governance, ethics, culture, welfare, and development studies. The journal welcomes conceptual, empirical, methodological, and policy-oriented manuscripts that examine how social institutions, legal systems, cultural values, public policies, community dynamics, rights, and governance arrangements shape human welfare, social transformation, justice, and inclusive development.

JHSS welcomes manuscripts in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Comparative studies on humanity, society, law, and governance in Indonesia, Asia, and other global contexts.

Open Access Policy

JHSS provides immediate open access to its published content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a wider exchange of knowledge, critical reflection, and social learning. Readers are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of published articles, subject to the applicable copyright and licensing terms stated by the journal.

Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo an editorial screening process to assess their relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, originality, academic quality, methodological rigor, and compliance with the author guidelines. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are reviewed by qualified reviewers with relevant expertise.
