Plagiarism and Artificial Intelligence Policy

The Journal of Property, Urban, and Regional Economics (JPURE) is committed to maintaining originality, academic integrity, transparency, and accountability in scholarly publishing. All manuscripts submitted to JPURE must be original works of the author(s) and must properly acknowledge all sources, ideas, data, methods, tables, figures, maps, and other materials taken from previous publications or external sources.

Plagiarism Policy

JPURE does not tolerate plagiarism in any form. Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Copying text, ideas, data, tables, figures, or images from other sources without proper citation.

  2. Paraphrasing another author’s work without appropriate acknowledgement.

  3. Using substantial parts of previously published work without permission or citation.

  4. Submitting the same or substantially similar manuscript to more than one journal.

  5. Reusing the author’s own published work without proper citation, also known as self-plagiarism or text recycling.

  6. Manipulating citations or references to misrepresent originality.

All submitted manuscripts may be checked using similarity-detection tools. The similarity report is used as an editorial aid and does not automatically determine acceptance or rejection. The editor will assess the similarity in context, including whether the overlap comes from properly cited quotations, standard terminology, methodology, legal texts, references, or inappropriate copying.

Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, excessive similarity, duplicate publication, or unethical text reuse may be returned to authors, rejected, or withdrawn from the editorial process. If plagiarism is discovered after publication, JPURE may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the severity of the case.

Artificial Intelligence Policy

JPURE recognizes that artificial intelligence and AI-assisted technologies may support limited aspects of manuscript preparation, such as grammar checking, language editing, formatting assistance, translation support, or improving readability. However, AI tools must be used responsibly, transparently, and under full author supervision.

AI tools and AI-assisted technologies must not be listed as authors. Authorship is limited to individuals who can take responsibility for the originality, accuracy, validity, integrity, and ethical compliance of the manuscript.

Authors who use AI or AI-assisted technologies must carefully review, verify, and edit all AI-generated or AI-assisted content. Authors remain fully responsible for:

  1. The accuracy of all statements, data, analysis, and conclusions.

  2. The originality of the manuscript.

  3. The validity of citations and references.

  4. The absence of fabricated sources, fake data, or misleading claims.

  5. Compliance with research ethics and publication ethics.

  6. Proper acknowledgement of AI use where applicable.

The use of AI tools to generate fake references, fabricate data, manipulate images, create misleading analysis, conceal plagiarism, or replace the author’s intellectual contribution is strictly prohibited.

Disclosure of AI Use

Authors must disclose the use of AI or AI-assisted technologies in the manuscript when such tools are used in the preparation of the article. The disclosure should be placed in a separate section before the references.

Authors may use the following statement:

“During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [name of AI tool/service] for [purpose of use, such as language editing, grammar checking, formatting assistance, or readability improvement]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed, edited, and verified the content and take full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript.”

If no AI or AI-assisted tool is used, authors may state:

“The author(s) declare that no artificial intelligence or AI-assisted technologies were used in the preparation of this manuscript.”

Editorial Assessment

The editorial team may request clarification from authors regarding similarity reports, originality concerns, citation accuracy, data integrity, or AI use. Authors must respond honestly and provide supporting information when requested.

Failure to disclose AI use, submission of AI-generated manuscripts without proper author verification, or use of AI in ways that violate research and publication ethics may result in rejection, withdrawal, correction, expression of concern, or retraction.

JPURE expects all authors to uphold the highest standards of originality, transparency, and scholarly responsibility throughout the submission, review, revision, and publication process.
